GENERAL INFORMATION

CONFERENCES/REGISTRATION:  Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held TONIGHT on Monday, March 19, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Brainerd High School. Grade 9 conferences will be at the South Campus cafeteria. Conferences for grades 10-12 will be held in the Brainerd High School gym. An information meeting for registration will be held for parents of students currently in grades 9 - 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. There will be a parent PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Option) information meeting held in the BHS choir room from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

    Online registration for school year 2017-2018 for current grade 9 - 11 students will be March 28 and 29.  If you have questions about the registration process, please contact Joy at 218-454-6298.

 

REGISTRATION Q & A:  On Tuesday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 21 a BHS school counselor will be available during both lunches to answer questions about registration.

CREDIT RECOVERY will meet again Monday, March 19th at 3:30.  If you have any questions, please see any of the credit recovery teachers.  

 

BASEBALL:  Baseball practice (9-12) for Monday 3/19 is cancelled due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Tuesday 3/20 practice will begin at 3:30 for 10-12, and at 5:30 for 9th grade.

 

VARSITY GOLF:  Any 9-12 grade boys interested in varsity or junior varsity golf please attend a meeting on Thursday, March 22 in the North Campus entry way conference room from 3:30-5:00. A parent meeting will follow from 5:00-6:00 so please have at least one parent present.

 

IN WITH MS. WALES - Emily Gorman is a BHS grad, former BHS Homecoming Queen. Emily also happens to have Autism. She will be here on Thursday, March 22nd for Ms. Wales' WIN at South Campus (Room 805) to talk about living with autism.  

    WIN with Ms. Wales on Wednesday 03/21/2018-we will watching a video Emily suggested that we watch before she visits. It is called "Just Like You." We will watch the video and talk about questions we may have for Emily. Please sign up for both!

AP WIN INFO:  Students interested in taking Advanced Placement course(s) next year are invited to attend an informational meeting on March 21st during WIN time in the North Cafeteria.  If you are interested in attending, sign up for Mr. Hewitt's WIN.

 

PSEO INFO WIN:  There will be a PSEO informational meeting during WIN on March 21 and April 4 in the North Campus Media Center. Students must sign up under Ms. Streed's WIN in advance to attend.

GIRLS’ GOLF:  There will be an information meeting for girls' golf on Wednesday March 21st at 3:30 in the conference room by the main office.

 

BOYS TENNIS: There will be a short meeting for boys who are playing tennis this year, on Tuesday March 20th South Conference room at 3:20 if you have any questions please see Coach Fussy

GENERAL INFORMATION

ATTENTION ALL SOPHOMORES!  ALL sophomores will be attending Career Exploration Day this Friday at CLC. ALL sophomores should report to the cafeteria by 8:20 for a brief orientation before getting on their busses. BACKPACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE BUSSES, please leave them in your locker! Jackets are optional.

THURSDAY WIN - On Thursday, all students will report to their CNC classes during WIN. Grades 9-11 will get information on the Course Catalog and class registration for next year. Seniors will be finishing their PLP activity and receiving their 7th grade Surveys.

PSEO MEETING - There will be a PSEO informational meeting during WIN on Wednesday in the North Campus Media Center. Students must sign up under Ms. Streed's WIN in advance to attend.

THE 28TH ANNUAL SERTOMA LIFTATHON is scheduled for March 6 and 7 at 3:30 pm both days in the BHS weight room.  One-hundred twenty Brainerd students in grades 8-12 will be participating in this fundraiser for local charities.  Teams are posted at BHS, South Campus. and Forestview. There is no cost to participate.  The event is also open to the public and free for spectators.

COME JOIN SPANISH CLUB as we put together some children's coloring books and we make a photo album of BHS for an orphanage in Ecuador.  Maestra Qualley will be going to Shell, Ecuador on a Mission trip, and will work in an orphanage.  Let's brighten these children's day (and ours) as we share a part of our great school!  All are welcome to come and help this Friday, March 2nd in Ms. Qualley's room, from 3:30 - 5:00.

BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY!  Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday, Feb. 28 as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Minnesota.  Students, if you ride the bus, take a moment to thank your driver on Wednesday, February 28.

 

IT’S SPRING BLOOD DRIVE WEEK!  There are still donor times available. Sign up with Ms. Vandeputte in her classroom A108. If you do not receive your pass on Tuesday 1st hour, Ms. Vandeputte will have it in her room. Thank you for making this Key Club event a big success!

GENERAL INFORMATION

THE ACT AND ASVAB test will be administered Tuesday, February 27, starting promptly at 8:20 a.m. Students taking the ASVAB tests should report to the Cafeteria.  Students taking the ACT should consult the lists posted around the school and report to their assigned classroom.  Please bring a #2 pencil.  Calculators are recommended, but not required.  Backpacks and food are not allowed in any testing rooms.

Students must have a picture ID to get into their testing room. (Student IDs, athletic IDs, or state IDs are appropriate forms of identification.)

All electronic devices should be stored in a separate location during the test. This includes cell phones, fitbits, apple iwatches, and calculators that connect to the internet.


PSEO INFO:  Current sophomore and junior students interested in participating in PSEO next year should sign up to attend one of the informational WIN's scheduled on Wednesday, February 28 or Thursday, March 1. To qualify for PSEO, current sophomores must have a 3.0 GPA and current juniors need a 2.5 GPA.

 

BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY!  Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday, Feb. 28 as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Minnesota.  Students, if you ride the bus, take a moment to thank your driver on Wednesday, February 28.

 

IT’S SPRING BLOOD DRIVE WEEK!  There are still donor times available. Sign up with Ms. Vandeputte in her classroom A108. If you do not receive your pass on Tuesday 1st hour, Ms. Vandeputte will have it in her room. Thank you for making this Key Club event a big success!  

 

COME JOIN SPANISH CLUB as we put together some children's coloring books and we make a photo album of BHS for an orphanage in Ecuador.  Maestra Qualley will be going to Shell, Ecuador on a Mission trip, and will work in an orphanage.  Let's brighten these children's day (and ours) as we share a part of our great school!  All are welcome to come and help this Friday, March 2nd in Ms. Qualley's room, from 3:30 - 5:00.

 

ALL 9TH GRADE FOOTBALL players who played this past fall have a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 8:00 AM in the South Campus Cafeteria.

 

9TH GRADE SOFTBALL PLAYERS:  Remember our meeting this Wednesday the 28th at 3:30, in room 903 (South Campus).  It will last about a half hour.  If you cannot attend, let someone know so they can get you the information.  See you soon!!  


LASER SHOWS ARE RETURNING to the Forestview Planetarium!  Thursday- Saturday until March 3.  Go to fmsplanetarium.com and click on “Laser Shows”.  Only $7 per person with all early bird shows (5:30) $1 off!    

 

LOST AND FOUND:  Please check for lost items in the Student Services (Attendance) Office.  All items not claimed before Spring Break (March 10th) will be donated.

THE ACT AND ASVAB test will be administered tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27, starting promptly at 8:20 a.m. Grade 11 students who signed up for the ACT and have not pre-registered will need to do so before test day.  Please visit the Student Success Center to arrange a time to pre-register.
